Barcelona looking for five additions this summer in four different positions this summer – latest

Barcelona are looking to strengthen this summer in spite of their financial difficulties, and will look to make a number of additions. One of the major surprises is that they will look to bring in a forward, despite signing Vitor Roque in January.

Guido Rodriguez is the closest to actually signing for Barcelona as things stand, and he would come into the strengthen the pivot position, with Oriol Romeu expected to depart. However they will also look for a major signing in the position, with Joshua Kimmich and Amadou Onana their preferred choices. Kimmich is an old request of Xavi Hernandez’s, as per Relevo, and any chance of signing him depends on whether Bayern Munich can agree a new deal with him this summer. Onana looks far from possible, as Everton are demanding €60-70m as it stands, and Chelsea are also in the frame.

The next priority is a left winger, as has been reported in recent months. Barcelona have been in touch with Dani Olmo’s agent, but RB Leipzig are not willing to come down on his €60m release clause.

With talk that Vitor Roque could leave on loan this summer, there is also the possibility of searching for a number nine as an alternative to Robert Lewandowski, who will be 36 in a matter of months.

Finally, the doubts over Joao Cancelo and the impending exit of Marcos Alonso mean that they will also seek out a full-back, although it is not clear in which position.

While Marc Guiu could be the alternative to Lewandowski, after some promising performances, but it seems remarkable that Barcelona do not trust their €61m signing (including variables) to back up the Polish forward. Equally, all of the above probably depends on Barcelona’s ability to sell well this summer, and that could impact their team much more than the additions.
