Erik ten Hag insists he is 'happy' for Manchester United exile Jadon Sancho after his impressive display for Borussia Dortmund in the Champions League semi-final.

Sancho was banished from Old Trafford after falling out with Ten Hag over his training performance levels at the start of the season.

The winger has rediscovered his best after returning to old club Dortmund on loan and he shone as they beat Paris Saint-Germain 1-0 in Wednesday night's first leg.

Asked about his performance, United boss Ten Hag gave little away about Sancho's future but admitted he is pleased for him.

'So let's say this: yesterday he played very good and he's a very good player.

'Yesterday he showed why Manchester United bought him and he showed he represents a high value for Manchester United. Which is good.

'I'm happy for Jadon, for the performance yesterday and we'll see what is going to happen in the future.'
