The 34-year-old Germany striker Mario Gomez has announced his retirement from football.
"I was sure at the beginning of the season that we would go up.
"So I decided that this would be my last year at VfB Stuttgart, in Germany and probably as a football player."
The former Bayern star has played 543 matches in his career including 78 games for the national team.

Not everyone is Ronaldo or Zlatan and not everyone needs to keep playing football into their 40s. The man wanted to hang up his boots let him celebrate his career instead of shamelessly berating him cos another played still plays.

It sounds ridiculous and probably unforgiving and infact quite a shame on your path; nobody compares nor mentions anthing other than saying super Mario has ended his footballing career and you're there bringing what's off the mark only to spoil somebody's praise. Is that what's required?.
