4 goals in 5 games! Haaland named Bundesliga Rookie of the Month for February

Dortmund forward Erling Haaland has been named Bundesliga Rookie of the Month for February.

Erling Haaland just can’t stop scoring goals. Dortmund’s winter signing had already made an eye-catching start to Bundesliga life in January with five goals from two substitute appearances, and the Norwegian simply kept going in February with seven goals in seven competitive matches, including four in the Bundesliga.

It puts the 19-year-old at the top end of the scoring chart over the course of the month behind only established goalscorers Robert Lewandowski and Jhon Cordoba with six apiece. If Haaland is free in front of goal, though, it only means one thing, as he is still yet to squander a clear-cut chance in the Bundesliga.

The striker averaged a goal at a remarkable rate of one every 91 minutes in February.

The Bundesliga Rookie Award will once again be a feature of the 2019/20 season in Germany's top flight, the league with the youngest average age across Europe's top divisions. Alongside votes from fans, this year - for the first time - clubs and Bundesliga pundits will also have their say in the Rookie of the Month prize, with the weighting of votes split in three: fans 40%, clubs 30%, pundits 30%.
