Manchester City striker Sergio Aguero has indicated that this year's Ballon d'Or should go to a player who will feature in the Champions League final between Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur.
The Sky Blues were eliminated in the quarter-finals of the competition by Mauricio Pochettino's side on away goals, but managed to clinch the Premier League title in the last game of the season.
"I think that to win the Ballon d'Or have to be in the Champions League [final] no matter what," said Aguero.
Luka Modric won last year's accolade, while Virgil Van Dijk, Sadio Mane, Christian Eriksen or Mohamed Salah could be regarded as this season's candidates.

UCL decides the best team in Europe, its only normal that the individual prize to the best player in the final is to be seen as the best player in Europe. While Messi has done his magic every year ever since he arrived, he does deserve to be on the team of the year, but most of his goals have come in La Liga, a current farmers league. Messi is the GOAT, and he's been wasted in the last 2 seasons due to the team relying on him WAY TOO MUCH. It used to be Messi Iniesta and Xavi, then it was the MSN, and now like in Argentina, its just Messi and Alba now. Barcelona cant do tiki taka with 2 men because that cant make a triangle.

why does messi always have to win the award .. just coz he score plenty on goal in laliga doesnt mean he should win the award ..He should be representing his club to the final of European league to win it coz if it's totally based on goals then modric wont have won it for real last year .. it should be how much is the performance of a player till the final , it can be won by defender , midfielder, striker or even a goal keeper for clean sheet .. if messi doesnt get it then it's not UEFA fault it's his teammate , manager and his own fault .. so as much all respect for his work till semi ,football is all about 11 player and their team work not only about single magician,G.O.A.T or alien . so be neutral coz barca has been exactly judged,weight and found guilty by liverpool for being over confident ..[Bear][Bear][Bear]
