Liverpool star Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain touched down back in the UK on Friday evening after enjoying a romantic getaway with partner Perrie Edwards.

The two took a trip to sun-kissed Mykonos but have now returned from their summer break and appeared to have caught a case of the holiday blues.

Chamberlain and his Little Mix star girlfriend both looked gloomy as they were pictured walking through the airport after landing back in London.

The pair were seen having a lovers' tiff as they made their way into the arrivals hall, however, the Liverpool midfielder redeemed himself by heading off to grab them each a toasted sandwich and a hot drink.

Chamberlain has returned in time to see in the first weekend of the new Premier League season, but is still sidelined from the serious knee injury he sustained back in April against Roma.

The 24-year-old, whose scar was visible as he arrived at the airport, is set to miss the whole duration of the season after the full extent of his horror injury was revealed earlier in the summer.

Every major ligament in his right knee was damaged, including the cruciate, medial and lateral collateral ligaments.

Chamberlain's Liverpool kick-off their Premier League season in his absence against West Ham on Sunday and Jurgen Klopp is anticipating a tough match after their new boss Manuel Pellegrini brought in several recruitments this summer.

'One of the very, very successful managers on this planet. He knows how football goes, so he's a really good tactician and coach. That changes a lot of things,' said Klopp of his counterpart.

'If you go through the West Ham team, it could be completely different.

'It could be Arnautovic in the '9', Yarmolenko and Felipe Anderson wide or Chicharito striker with Arnautovic behind in the '10'.

'Behind them, Wilshere and Noble or whoever, then a new full-back, Cresswell back. It's just a good football team.

'They are ambitious, clearly. People expect that we win, and we expect the same, but we know that between now and then there are 95 brutal minutes, and we have to be ready for that.

'It's easy not to underestimate West Ham. Analysis is pretty non-existent at this stage, but no problem. I'm still looking forward to it.'
