Shakira has collaborated with fellow Colombian singer Karol G on the song “Te Quedó Grande”, which was released on Friday.

Karol G and Shakira have released their hotly-anticipated song “TQG”, which is full of messages for their former partners, Anuel AA and Gerard Piqué.

In the track, which has already accrued more than a million views on YouTube, Shakira doesn’t mention Piqué by name, but does refer to her former relationship with the ex-footballer. She begins with a reference to the first images she saw of Piqué with his current girlfriend, Clara Chía: “Seeing you with the new girl hurt me, but I’m now focusing on me.”

But Shakira adds that she’s “better” now, and that Piqué is no longer “welcome”: “I’ve forgotten about what we lived and that’s what has offended you, my life has even got better, I swear you’re no longer welcome, and what your girlfriend threw at me, that doesn’t annoy me or make me laugh.”

The Colombian singer also repeats her claim that Piqué sought to reconcile with her after their break-up, having previously sung about this in her track BZRP Music Sessions #53, which she released alongside Argentinian artist Bizzarap in January. “Now you want to get back together, I can tell, I don’t know, wait for me where you are ‘cos I’m not an idiot. You left, and I got triple ‘m’: much hotter, much tougher, much lighter.”

When it comes to Piqué, his seeming attempt to rekindle the pair’s relationship appears to be Shakira’s chief message. She also notes that he continued to interact with her on social media after their June 2022 break-up: “And you want to get back together, I knew it. You liked a photo of mine.”
