Ander Herrera opens up playing without fans and missed chances

Ander Herrera didn't hold back in his post-match interview, saying Bayern Munich 'killed' PSG in the Champions League final, and he also opened up on the 'horrible' experience of football without fans.

Speaking with Viaplay Fotball, the midfielder said: 'The conclusion that I have right now is that if you miss clear chances and you play against another top side, they will probably kill you. As they did.

'I think we did everything to win the game, we created two or three big chances in the first half and we didn't score. Even after they scored we created two or three chances.'

Marquinhos and Kylian Mbappe both missed chances to score, and Bayern keeper Manuel Neuer was on top form to deny goals on a few occasions.

Meanwhile, Neymar and Angel Di Maria were kept quiet by their opposition, on what was a frustrating night for the French champions.

Kingsley Coman, a product of the PSG youth system, was the difference maker, scoring Bayern's goal just before the hour mark.

Herrera was replaced by Julian Draxler with 20 minutes to go as Thomas Tuchel tried to chase the game, but PSG were unable to get the equaliser.

'They knew how to win, and we also knew how to lose the game,' said Herrera. 'When you lose, you are f***** for a couple of days, but when you lose the way we lost, you can take a lot of things to make you stronger.'

When asked about playing the Champions League final inside an empty stadium, Herrera replied: 'It's s***, horrible. For me, fans are the key in this sport, they're the most important thing in football.

'Football without fans is nothing. I hope all the people realise football is for fans. The business had to continue because it's a big business. For people suffering it's been a good escape for them to watch football.'

He finished up by urging everyone to stay safe and keep following guidelines so that fans can return to live games as soon as possible.

PSG will have to pick themselves up after their bitter defeat, as their Ligue 1 season commences against Lens on Saturday.
