Antonio Conte got what he wanted. His desire to talk about all of Tottenham's historic problems in the press conference that followed the 3-3 draw at Southampton revealed his willingness to abruptly end his working relationship with Spurs.
It is very sad to observe Conte's decline - he welcomed the Tottenham challenge with enthusiasm, having left the role of sports commentator in Italy, but failed to achieve the desired results during his second stop in England after Chelsea.
His words against the Tottenham world angered everyone in London and are a clear sign of stress and tiredness.
We must quickly forget the figure of Conte as Superman capable of fixing all things. His way of training is always the same, but his attitude has changed.
His aggressive attitude towards the players had greatly tightened the fans and club hierarchy, who took note of the impossibility of managing a very controversial character like the former Juventus captain.
The termination of his contract is a defeat for everyone - for the club and then coach, unable to manage a team built through his indications but denied in the last press conference through a direct attack on individual players.
CONTE MUST CHANGE HIS ATTITUDE TO BE HAPPY
Every man learns something from every experience and this adventure at the helm of Spurs has made it clear how Conte must be less demanding of himself and of the team in order to live his job as a coach serenely.
To remain at the top after so many years of success, Conte will have to try to recalibrate his way of living within the coaching profession to avoid burning the many job opportunities around him.
The feeling is that for the first time, Conte was not tolerated even by the players and the disagreements with Richarlison reveal the presence of small frictions which over time have increased until we reached Sunday night's split.
UNCERTAIN FUTURE BUT HE WILL WORK IN ITALY
Conte's future today is very uncertain because his way of coaching is unquestionably rich in quality but his way of managing human relationships leaves something to be desired because of his lack of sensitivity.
Now Conte is free to return to Italy, enjoy the family affections he had neglected because of work and can choose how and when to start his new adventure in Serie A.
The deaths of Gianluca Vialli and Gian Piero Ventrone have clarified the importance of working alongside his family and the loss of two such loyal and sincere friends opened Conte's heart to returning to Italy.
If Roberto Mancini's situation were to depreciate, Conte could also wait for the Italy job, though there's only a 10 per cent chance of that happening right now.
CONTE BACK TO LIVE IN TURIN… AT LEAST UNTIL JUNE
Conte has returned to live in his historic Turin home and will surround himself with family and probably until June will be the main spectator of the Italian championship.
Inter, Milan, Juventus and above all Roma are thinking of him. He is the best Italian coach left without a contract but Conte wants and needs to recharge his batteries and understand what his true professional life desires after 15 years lived at great levels.
His salary exceeds 10 millions euros [£8.8m] and no club in Italy is willing to pay him this much.
If he wants to manage in Italy, he will have to lower his economic demands by 50 per cent and find a compromise between his financial and professional desires.
In Rome, Conte would be the perfect successor to Jose Mourinho but the Giallorossi have only 14 good-level players and would never be competitive enough for someone so demanding.
Inter are dismantling their whole team with Milan Skriniar, Romelu Lukaku, Stefan de Vrij and probably Denzel Dumfries all likely to leave at the end of the season - the club's economic health is not the best at the moment.
At the moment, it is difficult to think of a separation between Stefano Pioli and AC Milan in light of his recent contract renewal.
Juventus remains a possibility and that guarantees Conte the possibility of being re-born along with the club of which he was captain and icon for over 10 years.
