Mikel Arteta has been announced as Arsenal’s new manager and fans are delighted but want one another to be patient as the former Manchester City coach rebuilds the team.

Arsenal fans have offered their full support to Mikel Arteta following the announcement he is the club’s new manager.

The Emirates faithful are backing Arteta to succeed, however, and demonstrated their excitement on Twitter when reacting to the news.

One jokingly posted: “Just need to get Warsene Venger as assistant and we are going unbeaten again”.

Another summarised: “Took a paycut to join us from Everton, became one of the most important characters in the dressing room, respected the club and was proud to wear the badge from the beginning. Few years later, he comes back, leaves his comfort zone to unite us. Welcome back, El Capitano”.

A third added: “Welcome home Mikel! Big project here and we are ready and patient to back you as this squad needs a lot of work.”

A fourth posted: "Vamos Mikel! We’re on this journey together and I cannot wait to see what you do with this team. #COYG ”.

One Arsenal fan tweeted: “Welcome Arteta! I’m excited for a new beginning. Everyone needs to back him now, including all the players and the board this summer.”

“Let’s all give him the time he needs,” another urged.

And a final Gunners fan said: “Arsenal starts with Ar. Arsene starts with Ar. Arteta starts with Ar. Arteta’s appointment is already great to begin with. Make Arsenal great again.”

Arsenal supporters are far from the only fans of Arteta, as club chiefs were keen to get the appointment completed this week ahead of tomorrow's game at Goodison Park.

Arteta will be in the stands to watch his new team take on another of his former clubs as Everton welcome Arsenal to Merseyside (12.30pm).

Outlining their own delight at the deal being done to bring the Spaniard back to north London from Manchester, Josh Kroenke and Raul Sanllehi spoke out following the confirmation on Friday afternoon.
