Ansu Fati is facing an uncertain future at Barcelona after Xavi hinted that the talented youngster could be sold to raise funds this summer

Arsenal have been a huge incentive to pursue a deal for Barcelona starlet Ansu Fati. The 20-year-old has been linked with a move to the Emirates Stadium in recent months after failing to cement himself as a regular starter for the Catalan giants.

After mainly being used as a rotation option under Xavi Hernandez, Fati continues to court interest from clubs across Europe, including Arsenal and Tottenham, according to La Vanguardia. The report states that both the Gunners and Spurs "have been interested" in the Spain international.

Franck Kessie has recently left the Catalan club to join Saudi Arabian side Al-Ahli, but it seems Fati could be sold before the transfer window closes. The youngster has been troubled with injuries in recent years but proved his fitness last term despite playing limited minutes for Barca.

Mikel Arteta is keen to make further additions to his squad before the transfer window closes and Fati could prove to be a smart purchase for Arsenal. The Gunners have heavily relied upon Bukayo Saka in the last two years without having a capable back-up option to compete with the England international.

Fati is clearly a very talented player and after being used as a rotation option at Barcelona last season - he may be the perfect deputy to Saka at the Emirates Stadium. The Spain international can play on either flank and would provide good competition for Saka given the sheer number of games Arsenal will be playing throughout the 2023/24 campaign.

Fati has plenty of experience in the Spanish top-flight and European competitions - but his contract situation at Camp Nou is far from ideal. The 20-year-old's current deal has a £1billion release clause and does not expire until 2027.

However, Barcelona may be willing to negotiate a realistic fee that would allow him to leave the club as they look to raise funds for new signings.
