Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola has shared the extent of Kevin De Bruyne's injury that has increased Arsenal's chances of winning the Premier League title
Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola has confirmed the extent of Kevin De Bruyne’s hamstring injury.
The new City captain played just 23 minutes in his side’s 3-0 opening win over Burnley. De Bruyne had a role in Erling Haaland’s first goal of the game but was soon forced off, midway through the first half, being replaced by Mateo Kovacic.
The Belgian missed the entirety of City’s pre-season after suffering an injury during the Champions League final in June. He returned as a substitute against Arsenal in the Community Shield, in time to be named in Guardiola’s starting XI last Friday, but the City boss has admitted that De Bruyne could be out for up to four months, with fears it could be longer
"It's a serious injury," Guardiola said, ahead of his side’s Super Cup clash with Sevilla. "We have to decide surgery or not surgery but it will be a few months out."
Asked when a final decision will be made over whether De Bryne will undergo an operation, Guardiola gave a clearer timeline: "In the next few days. Surgery is surgery, it will be three or four months."
De Bruyne, 32, scored 10 goals and recorded a remarkable 31 assists in all competitions as City won the treble last season. While his absence will be keenly felt by Guardiola’s side, it also a huge boost to Arsenal’s hopes of challenging for the Premier League title.
The Gunners finished five points behind City last term and will have increased confidence in closing that gap, following De Bruyne’s injury. Meanwhile, the Manchester Club have seen a bid for West Ham United’s Lucas Paqueta rejected as they look to strengthen their midfield.

I am a diehard City fan... I want Cancelo to play as number 10... though he is a defender but he has all the qualities of scoring and creating chances... Cancelo should apologise to Pep and Pep should accept him with glad.... Mancity fans also loved to see this happening again

Tell me one single team who can challenge city or you think pep is one of those inconsistent coaches of epl which allowed Leicester to win that league. Pep don’t joke with league trophies you can check his records.
I don’t discuss with morooon like u u think that City winning the EPL is like 1+1=2 . Bcz football is a game with all the odds. Why not Newcastle? Why not Brighton? Lucky factor is to be considered as well . Look yesterday my team was outplayed but we won it called lucky

They shouldn't jubilate yet because League is not gonna end tomorrow, after all nobody knows what's gonna happen in future. it's KDB today it could be another player tomorrow. We will keep our fingers crossed as usual and see what the end will bring.

He is a great problem for Arsenal but we wish him a speedily recovery because without him Man City won't be that sharp upfront unless Pep get some to fill that void and Erling will be having a big problem
