In the just-concluded EFL Cup final, Arsenal lost 0-2 to Manchester City. With this result, Arsenal suffered a four-game losing streak in EFL Cup finals and once again missed out on the championship of this tournament.
Arsenal's last League Cup victory was in the 1992-93 season, when they beat Sheffield Wednesday 2-1 in the final to win the title. This was their second and most recent League Cup title, which has been 33 years ago.
Since then, Arsenal have reached the League Cup final four times but failed to claim the title each time, namely:
2006-07 season: Arsenal 1-2 Chelsea
2010-11 season: Arsenal 1-2 Birmingham
2017-18 season: Arsenal 0-3 Manchester City
2025-26 season: Arsenal 0-2 Manchester City

For a relatively young coach, Mikel Arteta has done an exceptional job stabilizing and transforming Arsenal into a genuinely competitive side. When you stack him up against his contemporarie eg Wayne Rooney, Frank Lampard, Steven Gerrard, and Thierry Henry, the trajectory heβs on is nothing short of impressive. Given his age and level of experience, he may have gotten a few calls wrong today, but that part of the game. The bigger picture remains intact. Arsenal are evolving, improving, and firmly moving in the right direction.
