Arsenal readying new bid as Arteta nears second summer signing after 'agreement'

Arsenal transfer news: A new bid for Jurrien Timber is being prepared in the coming days following Arsenal's agreement on personal terms with the Ajax defender

With just two-years remaining on his contract and with Ajax finishing third last season - resulting in a lack of Champions League football - a move appears more likely. Manchester United have previously been linked with a switch, with the 22-year-old playing under Erik ten Hag in his time in Amsterdam.

With Champions League on the cards for the upcoming campaign, as well as the hopes of pushing for the Premier League title, there will be a need for quality in depth. With Timber potentially fulfilling that role, the Gunners will be looking to step up their interest to get their deals done early.

According to Fabrizio Romano, their chase for the Dutch international is stepping up as a second bid is being prepared to be sent soon. An agreement is said to have been reached with Timber on personal terms, with the green light already signalled from both sides over a deal.

football.london understands that a bid significantly higher than the original offer would be enough to prise the 22-year-old away from Amsterdam. However, the north London outfit will be keen to find their own value in any move and have shown in the past that they are willing to move onto other targets if it exceeds their target price.
