The odds for Arsenal to sign starring midfielder Martin Odegaard on a permanent deal have slashed following a series of exquisite performances.
The Norwegian signed for the Gunners on a six-month loan deal back in January, with many at the time questioning the transfer following the emergence of Emile Smith Rowe.
Odegaard has since proved to be an astute signing, however, with his recent displays against London rivals Tottenham and West Ham raising Arsenal fans' hopes of a summer transfer.
Odegaard, who is still just 22-years-old, has already notched two goals in his 12 outings for Arsenal, of which include his Europa League strike against Olympiacos and a crucial equaliser in the north London derby win over Tottenham.
The youngster was at it once more as Arsenal came from 3-0 down to draw 3-3 at West Ham on Sunday, playing a crucial role in the Gunners' second - a Craig Dawson own goal.
And the fans' hopes of a summer transfer have subsequently received a boost, with the midfielder now at evens to be an Arsenal player at the start of the 2021-22 season, as per Ladbrokes.
That is particularly encouraging for Arsenal, given that the odds were up at 3/1 when he initially joined.
Should Arsenal eventually prove successful in signing Odegaard on a permanent deal, the influence of Mikel Arteta will be crucial.
Following their entertaining draw at the London Stadium, the Spaniard revealed Odegaard has been a leader in the dressing room since he arrived.
'Well, he's showing that I think from week one,' he said. 'The way he steps on the pitch, he always wants the ball, the way he commands the pressing. He's been really influential.'
Interestingly, Arteta also revealed that Odegaard's leadership skills have actually come as a surprise to him, given his quiet demeanor.
'I think we've all been a bit surprised because he looks really shy and humble, but when he steps on that pitch he's a real character and he loves to play football,' he added.
'I think he was very intelligent the way he read the game, the way he affected the game and again he showed how much he wanted to win.
'When everyone was a little trembling he gave us that stability and that composure on the ball and he created chance after chance.
'I love talented and creative players that all the time are willing to take the ball and make that happen, that they are mobile and as well hard working. He is one of them.'
While it remains to be seen whether Arsenal will sign Odegaard - particularly with parent club Real Madrid likely to be watching on with a keen eye - the consensus among the fans is abundantly clear.
Arsenal legend Ian Wright was certainly impressed by his West Ham performance, telling Premier League Productions: 'What you see from him, he is a player that has got unbelievable potential and ability.
'You want to see him in a game where he does the meat and bones.'
'He picks the ball up and does what he does,' Weight continued. 'He is very efficient with it.
'He did it when Arsenal needed him, he chose the right pass so many times today – fantastic performance today.'
Piers Morgan, an Arsenal fan and MailOnline columnist, also made his thoughts apparent.
He wrote: 'This guy just put in a better performance than we saw from (Mesut) Ozil in the past 5yrs. Serious talent, terrific work ethic, great mentality.
'We need to sign him permanently.'

Salty fan. Hope Odergaard sees the bigger picture. Ain't worth staying at a club where the Coach doesn't trust you. He's 22 and the thing he need is game time and not a Real Madrid appearances on his CV.
so you went on google, looked up Martins contract, found out it was true! came back and started accusing me of being salty! pathetic! not my fault there are contracts.

I am just being real.I am liking him too but there is a limit to a thing. You must have heard a quote "Too much of anything is bad"
I understand your standpoint bro, just that the club has made us sad, and indeed we're sad, so when we find an aspect that makes us happy, we should embrace it fully... When something goes well, we like to be cautious, but when it goes badly, straight to Armageddon, every fan is very mad. Shouldn't be like that.

That's a sign of good coach from arteta seeing how in has integrated Martin odergard since Jan and some blinded lovers, fans of ole would say Manchester United manager is good... Do u really think Martin odergard is too much good and better than donny van de beek? In my opinion there are in thr same caliber and I can even say donny is little ahead of odergard in terms of experience but in arsenal they ga e a pattern of play and they have a plan A and B in thr culture in how they want play a match. But in my own team case it's totally different no pattern of play ni tactical plan thr worst of it is when just one or two players are injured the team look lost like a chicken who lost his head. Ole can't manage a players even if that layers has special talent in him... We all know how Bruno is good but tends to lose so much ball to the opponent by forcing a play even when he just needs to pass nearer to his team and its been a year the coach couldn't teach him that even at this moment.. Bruno is good in almost everything he does but he's below Kevin de brune bcus just that stats and this can be learned thru ur coaches at the club. Arteta can take one or two players out but u won't see thr intensity drop and still get the ssem result and thr differencr is that arsenal are not scoring their chances if not they wouldn't be at 10th place now and u can see how much he's improved mostly all players under him but what is thr improvement made by ole with his players.. I'm sure arsenal fans don't appreciate arteta but u can't even compare Manchester United players to arsenal and the power spending Manchester United have is much more than arsenal... Ole has killed the confidence of donny van de beek and now he's afraid to lose a single ball and tends to pkay one touch move.. I'm sad fans if Manchester United doesn't see all this but give ole squad to arteta and see how he did transform them. A good and intelligent coach is known to deliver when it matters most no matter what technics or plan u set... JUST WIN

First and foremost, we need to burn every record of his performances, every good game he has from now henceforth, we must seize and burn, so that Real Madrid won't increase his price... let us all support Madrid in the UCL too, so Zidane stays. Desperate times they say, calls for desperate measures. This kid is just wonderful, especially his attitude, his courage, his age, his abilities. Like Wenger would say about his technical midfielders, "he plays deliberately"

It’s not in Arsenal hands. Odegaard is so classy he can pretty much choose his next destination and play for a top club in champions league every season. Arsenal cannot offer that yet. Perhaps he is happy with the Arteta plan for the future in next season or two.

Every time there's a news about Ødegaard joining us in the summer, the comment section is flooded with salty Real Madrid fans. In my view there's no need for that. What you should understand is that every game Ødegaard plays with us, there will always be rumours about him signing permanently with us. But at the end of the day, it's him who decides where he wants to play out his future next. If he's convinced by Zidane to stay at Madrid where he will keep on getting chances, then that's it, you win. But he can also decide to sign permanently for us, which is his decision. The season's not over yet, and at the moment, no one can do anything. So just sit back and let the rumours fly
