Mikel Arteta has warned that there will be consequences for the person who leaked details of a training-ground bust-up between David Luiz and Dani Ceballos.
Manager Arteta is on the hunt for a mole in his Arsenal camp and feels the revelation undermines the culture and unity he is trying to create at the Emirates.
‘I don’t like the fact the incident came out at all,’ Arteta said. ‘And I will find out where it is coming from and if that is the case, that goes completely against what I expect from each other, the privacy and the confidentiality that we need, and there will be consequences.’
Asked specifically if he would address staff and if there would be repercussions, Arteta responded simply, ‘Yes.’
Luiz and Ceballos clashed in training eight days ago, needing to be pulled apart by manager Arteta after a challenge from the latter sparked the bust-up.
Luiz lashed out at Ceballos, leaving the Spanish midfielder on the ground and with a scratch on his nose.
As he climbed to his feet to confront Luiz, Arsenal players and staff stepped in to diffuse the situation.
Luiz and some of Arsenal’s other senior players are understood to have taken exception to Ceballos’s rough treatment of some of the club’s younger players during a training match.
It is not the first time Ceballos has been involved in such an incident. He also clashed with 21-year-old striker Eddie Nketiah ahead of Arsenal’s season opener at Fulham.
Arteta said: ‘Whether it is a coincidence or not, it doesn’t change things much.
‘It is just the competitive levels that we demand and the standards that we want to set, but obviously it is a very thin line where it is a competitive issue and where it goes somewhere else that we don’t support and we don’t want.’
Luiz and Ceballos have apologised to each other and Arteta insists there is now ‘no problem at all’ between the pair.
Arteta has also held talks with Brazil forward Willian and resolved matters ‘internally’ after his lockdown trip to Dubai, which appeared to be in breach of Government guidelines restricting non-essential travel.
Arteta said: ‘We had a conversation and I explained what I expected of him. There are a lot of personal factors at the moment and, as well from our side, we need to be in their shoes.
‘Whether they are right or wrong, it’s a thing that we have to discuss.
‘But it has been dealt with in the right way, so let’s move on.’

The truth of the matter is" Arsenal is not a good team with quality players such that Mesut Ozil must Ozil has no chance and has to be omitted from the squard. Given the players that Arsenal has for this season, Ozil is still needed. No need to go back and look for the stats. The performance of the current squard is enough. Besides, even other players including Bend Leno who describe Ozil as loyal and absolutely professional and is training very hard and well, still believe that Ozil has a place in their team. They need him.
ozil has been given chances, but he decided to invest more time on other issues rather than soccer. for 3 years, arsenal has been a charity club to offer one playing position to a player who always goes off at the required time, no more. we need soccer players, not some sociopolitical analyst.

Nobody said that when the team was winning, did u hear any comments like this prior to the FA cup final?... I've been in this sport long enough to know that when the team loses, every player that didn't play suddenly becomes messiahs! Chelsea are winning, right? good! Lose a couple games and watch fans talk about favoritism from Lampard

You don't judge a player solely on his down time. That Ozil went out of form within "your two-year period" doesn't mean he is a bad player and cannot be a solution to the lack of creativity in your midfield- He was a very creative before your judgment period. Same applies to Hazard, that he hasn't found his feet yet doesn't mean he can't be the solution to Madrid's problem. Ozil deserves another chance and the dust raised by his exclusion could be affecting the team spirit. Learn to reason or analyze issues broadly, saying Ozil cannot be the solution to your lack of creativity sounds a bit myopic to me, sorry to say.
I hope he gets selected in January for the sole reason of getting a befitting farewell, but if u think our hopes of a good season hinges on his return, that would be delusional... he'll get his chance either here or elsewhere, and u will see for yourself!

Stop being deliberately obtuse, nobody denies that there isn't a lack of creativity, what we're saying is that the player you're mentioning who has one of the worst creativity stats in the last 2yrs IS NOT THE ANSWER TO THAT PROBLEM... This is Hazard stats from yesterday, Real Madrid have attacking problems, looking at Hazard's stats from last year, HE IS NOT THE ANSWER TO MADRID'S PROBLEMS... that's the argument, not that the problem does not exist!!! Creativity is a team effort, Liverpool have no creative midfielder, yet they create loads of chances, why are u talking like only attacking midfielders should create? Why are we tracking Aouar or Szoboszlai if there was no problem? We have defensive problems, but Mustafi is not the answer, do u understand? Do you?... we've explained this over and over again

And you mentioned awkwardness... to who? Kepa Arrizabalaga is Chelsea's 3rd highest earner, is it awkward he's not going to play? is the wage bill a prerequisite for gametime?? Bale earned £600k sitting on Madrid bench, even Ramos don't earn as much as half of that, did that affect his performance? everyone negotiate their contracts differently, u only deserve a raise through ur performance... unlike the way Ramsey wanted to use Özil's wages as a benchmark in his contract negotiations, we've learnt our lessons and can easily say no, looking at him today, that's the correct decision! It's not awkward for us, any unhappy players can following him out of the club come June, it's that simple, we're not babysitting weak players anymore

I also think that because Ozil's time at Arsenal is coming to an end,Arteta might feel that he might as well focus on the future considering the fact that Ozil is not showing him the desire he wants from him.

Suddenly Ozil is trash to you huh? That he was out of form at your time of judgement due to off field issues, doesn't mean he is a dead-arse. Ozil remains one of the most creative midfielders in modern football. Doesn't it feel awkward that he earns more than everybody despite not playing a second? You think his team mates will be happy about that? Some of them play out their hearts for peanuts and somebody they all know will important for the team is chilling while taking the largest chunk of money. This surely will be a distraction to the team but not everybody can see beyond the length of their nose anyways.
giving him that contract was the mistake of Wenger, why should arteta carry that burden???

He's out of form for 3yrs?? Really?... do u know he was offered that contract not because he was playing really well at the end of 2017, but because it doesn't look good to lose both Özil and Alexis at the same window?... he has been shite for a long time, people said it's because Arsenal is terrible, then he went to Germany and was so shitty even Wenger criticized him, Wenger babysit weak players, if he's criticizing u, u know u have messed up!

I should watch clips??? Are u fvckin kidding me? I've not missed an Arsenal game in a decade, clips are deceitful, they compress 2000 minutes of a player's playing time into a 10mins video, what do u expect to see? his mistakes?... if u watch Jesse Lingard's clips, you'll think he's a fantastic player too!

Özil played 18 EPL games last season, 1 goal 2 assists, really the master of goals and assists... inspired the team to 5 victories and as it's customary for him to win the man of the match once in 20 games and disappear, it was unfortunate Nico Pepe won it in the best game Özil played, against Newcastle, talk about morale raising player! Chelsea bought Kai Havertz for over £70m, that's over the £5m we're willing to accept for Özil and can pay his wages for another 3-4yrs, why didn't Chelsea buy this master of goals and assists? OH! it is because Hakim Ziyech has more goal involvement in the Champions League ALONE than Özil in all competitions for the past 3yrs... get off the highlights and watch real games, you're embarrassing yourself!

Arsenal looks like they are in disarray on and off the pitch, is Arteta struggling to manage things efficiently? Is his lack of experience beginning to show? And then Ozil comes to mind, the team is struggling to score and you have Ozil the master of assist and goals wasting away despite earning the highest. Did Ozil kill somebody? what has he done that is unforgivable? Can't you see that since Ozil's exclusion from the squad, the team morale has been low? I feel for Arsenal fans, they've been through a lot in recent years.

enough talks to glorify a player who is past his prime long ago. ozil is a past, arsenal needs to look to the future. it's been too long arsenal haven't found a manger who is ruthless in decision-making. offering playing spots to players that are no longer useful have become a tradition in arsenal. time to change that.

The situation is not fine. You could see the body language of Auba when on the pitch. What Arteta has failed to understand is that, Arsenal was team created around Ozil. He knows the movements of every Arsenal players. That is the same mistake Emery made. You can not drop him completely in your effort to create your new system. You have to start somewhere and start changing the system slowly until you achieve your goal. You cannot be 11th on the league while you have decent players. Arteta will realize when it is too late that the team needs Ozil. I do not agree with anyone who thinks that Ozil does not fit in Arteta’ plans(system). What will happen happen the next few games will determine how good or bad our team is.
it was a mistake made by the last 3 managers to build a team around a lazy player. Arteta is trying to rectify their mistake. It's high time arsenal needs to be a club of deserving players instead of glamourous players that are glorified over the limit.

I'm pretty sure you've been a fan of Özil only by watching his "clips". Start watching the full games he's played since Wenger's departure, anyone can easily point out the inconsistency. If Arteta wanted Özil, he'd be playing every single game by now. There's a reason why we are so desperate for Aouar or Szoboszlai. And what has Özil done to the team Chemistry may I ask? When he get subbed off, he refuses to shake hands and walks away like an arrogant fool, is that what you're talking about?
