Despite the arrival of Alvaro Morata in January, Atletico Madrid's wage bill has shrunk.
The total cost of the players' wages is down by 2.8 million euros compared with the figure released in September.
According to Roberto Bayon in La Nueva Espana, the likes of Real Sociedad, Espanyol and Getafe have all seen their wages costs drop while Athletic Club, Celta, Alaves and Girona have seen theirs rise.
This means Atletico have room to breathe in their financial department, having sold Jonny Otto to Wolves in the January transfer window.

It has nothing to do with Morata. It might be because of sales, if they were any.
