Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has deactivated his Twitter account after a bizarre rant aimed at the social media company with his final tweet.
The Arsenal captain, who is recovering after contracting malaria which has seen him miss the Gunners' last three games, deactivated his account last night.
Yet with his last tweet the Gabonese 31-year-old explained that 'he had not missed Twitter' and criticised the social media company for 'no more talking about Covid... or online abuse or racism.'
In full, Aubameyang posted: 'I ain't missed you Twitter. So we not allowed to talk about anything?
'Only football and Super League? No more talking about Covid?! Or online abuse or racism. Nice. Even Sick (without fone) I was feeling better than now with fone.
'Let me turn it off. See u.'
His decision to remove his Twitter account comes less than a week after Aubameyang confirmed on his Instagram account about being hospitalised with malaria.
Aubameyang told his 10 million followers: 'Hey guys, thanks for all the messages and calls. Unfortunately I contracted Malaria whilst being on national team duty in Gabon a few weeks ago.
'I've spent a few days in hospital this week but I'm already feeling much better every day, thanks to the great doctors that detected and treated the virus so quickly.
'I wasn't feeling myself the last couple of weeks but will be back stronger than ever soon!'
Gunners boss Mikel Arteta is hopeful he should have his captain available for selection again soon.
'He's completely fine, we'll see how he recovers,' Arteta said last Friday. 'He wants to be back as soon as possible — that's what he said to me.'
Arsenal's next game is at home to Everton on Friday night in the Premier League before a huge Europa League semi-final tie against Villarreal - and former boss Unai Emery.
