The Premier League website lists a mysterious figure called 'Betinho' - who has apparently been on Manchester United's books since 2019.
On Tuesday, it appeared that a new player had been added to Erik ten Hag's squad, and it's a 29-year-old Portuguese forward called Betinho.
Whilst the website's statistics show that the player has not featured for the Red Devils across the past four seasons, it does suggest that they're not a new addition - despite continual demand for Manchester United to add to their squad.
Fans have been quick to find the Wikipedia page of Betinho - born Alberto Alves Coelho - who has been on the books at SC Espinho since the 2019-20 campaign, making over 60 appearances for them, and scoring 20 times.
He previously played on loan at Portuguese fourth-tier side Lusitania in the 2018-19 season, and was also at Os Belenenses between 2015 and 2019, before moving to Espinho.
Additions to the website include details of his move, reported for a remarkably high Β£67.5m, despite his lower league career and not making the step from Portugal's Under-21s to the senior side.
They also somewhat boastfully claimed he scored a hat-trick in Tuesday's late match against Nottingham Forest - several hours before kick-off in the Premier League clash.
Mailsport has previously revealed that ten Hag is only going to be able to complete loan deals in January, as the Glazers move to sell Manchester United after being owners of the global franchise since 2005.
The Dutch boss accepted that Manchester United needed to acquire a striker to replace Cristiano Ronaldo. The Portuguese star, 37, left the squad in acrimonious circumstances last month after giving an explosive TV interview where he hit out at the management of the Premier League giants.
However, plans for the Red Devils to get PSV Eindhoven's Cody Gakpo failed to materialise, with the Dutch club announcing that the striker is on his way to north-west rivals Liverpool for Β£44m.
Manchester United's Premier League campaign returns with Tuesday's late match against Nottingham Forest, ahead of games against Wolves and AFC Bournemouth.
