Jamie Carragher has admitted Manchester City signing Erling Haaland will be a 'worry' for the rest of the Premier League - but said their title rivals should not wave the white flag 'too early'.

Haaland, one of the world's most sought-after players, will officially join City from Borussia Dortmund on a five-year contract on July 1.

City finally announced the capture of the 21-year-old Norwegian star on Monday having confirmed they had reached an agreement in principle with Dortmund on May 10.

The signing of arguably the hottest prospect on the planet is sure to strike fear into City's rivals for the Premier League title as Haaland arrives having scored 86 goals in 89 appearances for the German side.

Liverpool legend turned pundit Carragher believes the champions landing Haaland will be a concern for other sides but insisted there was no guarantee the striker would hit the ground running in England.

Carragher highlighted how Guardiola has often not played with a central striker in recent years and said it will be 'interesting' to see how Haaland settles at the Etihad.

'It's a worry for the rest of the Premier League,' Carragher said on Sky Sports. 'We are talking about one of the world's greats, even at such a young age.

'But I don't think anyone should be raising the white flag too early because it is going to be really interesting how he fits into the team.

'Pep Guardiola hasn't really used a central striker for the last couple of years and has still been really successful. So it will be interesting to see how he settles.

'From the league's point of view, I think it is fantastic that we have got one of the world's leading players right now joining our league. That doesn't always happen, certainly at a young age.

'Most of his best years are going to be in the Premier League. It is really exciting for everyone to watch but it is going to be a tough proposition next season to stop Manchester City.'

Haaland himself fired a warning to City's rivals by declaring Guardiola's style of play was 'perfect for a player like me'.

'There are so many world-class players in this squad and Pep is one of the greatest managers of all-time, so I believe I am in the right place to fulfil my ambitions,' he added.

Liverpool, who finished a point behind City in the race for the title last term, are also set to bolster their forward line with the signing of Darwin Nunez from Benfica - although Sadio Mane is expected to leave the club for Bayern Munich.
