Match Events
6' CHANCE! Wonderful play from Chelsea!
Willian links up brilliantly with Loftus-Cheek, who barges forward at pace, playing another one-two with a team-mate to get into the area, but the England man can’t apply the finish, allowing Lopes to make the save.
30' CLOSE!
Willian threads a great reverse pass into the path of Emerson, who drills a low cross into the area. Abraham is there to meet it, but can only skew the ball wide.
35' CHANCE!
That should be 1-0 to Lyon! Depay carves through Chelsea’s defence, with both Christensen and Ampadu dragged out of position. The former Manchester United winger slips a neat pass into Aouar, who takes it on first time, but only manages to send his low effort wide when it seemed far easier to hit the target!
55' OFF THE POST!
Excellent play from Loftus-Cheek! Finally, the youngster shows his quality with a wonderful first touch and turn that gets him into the Lyon area. He keeps his composure to lift the ball over Lopes, but the ball rattles away off the outside of the upright!
76' CHANCE!
The ball falls to Barkley in the box following a free-kick, but the midfielder’s close-range, goal-bound strike is blocked by a Lyon defender.

Robert Green was Chelsea's hero as Maurizio Sarri's side edged past Lyon 5-4 on penalties in the International Champions Cup after a 0-0 draw at Stamford Bridge.
All three of Chelsea's ICC games had gone to a shoot-out, the Blues victorious against Inter but losing against Premier League rivals Arsenal, when Ruben Loftus-Cheek was denied by Petr Cech.
Chelsea have been linked with a world-record bid for Athletic Bilbao goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga with Thibaut Courtois expected to complete a move to LaLiga giants Real Madrid.
And when substitute stopper Green blocked Pape Diop's penalty after four perfect kicks apiece, Eden Hazard was able to confidently stroke home the winning effort to give Sarri a triumphant end to pre-season ahead of the Premier League starting at the weekend.

It's just pre season ffs. No one plays their cards from the beginning. All the people who are criticising Sarri right now were excited in his arrival yet can't understand that implementing a system takes time. Pep was also crap first season then he adapted and won the prem after 2 seasons. Time is a big factor of football...

disapointing on 0-0 draw in 90 minutes. chelsea had a great chance of wining this by a 3,4 goals margin. but like all the preseason matches they were the same in this.. they need to fix the problem of goals scoring from the start matches of new the season.

today was rather stagnant for us... we're getting the concept of pressing and keeping possession but we aren't scoring goals, since sarri has taken over if we haven't lost we've gone to penalties because we've failed to score more than 1 goal... this needs to be rectified if we're going to do well in the upcoming season

How can you expect Chelsea to press ball when bakayoko is on the pitch

After watching all our preseason matches here is my take, 1. Bakayoko and Drinkwater are not Chelsea standard. 2. Our lack of goal poacher will hurt us eventually 3. The coach seriously needs time and Technically gifted players to succeed at Chelsea. 4. David Luiz should not come near the first team. 5. Ampadu is a great talent. 6. We should lower our expectations, we're in for some ridiculous season.

based on what i understand from the game is: - both clubs were lacking clinical finisher - Chelsea defence were weak, they need improvement - antonio lopez saved a great freekick from willian - sarri ball is improving compare to the arsenal game Chelsea need a goalkeeper, a winger, and a defender, they will be ready to go after that
