Chelsea news: The changes under Todd Boehly continue as a key change is set for Stamford Bridge

Sweeping change has already started at Stamford Bridge, with a whole new recruitment team built behind the scenes, switches to the medical staff and a switch in the head coach and playing squad. The idea for Boehly is to get the best of the best in at the west London club to have them at the peak once again.

That doesn't appear to be limited to just those departments though as the co-owner has switched focus to the playing surface at the stadium. Former groundspeople Jason Griffin and his son Reisse were dismissed from their duties earlier this week as another change was set to be made.

The pair were at the club for 30 years, though there were plenty of complaints over the playing surface at the Bridge last season from Thomas Tuchel. After defeat to Arsenal, in which an Andreas Christensen error lead to a goal, the German coach said: "To say the pitch is difficult to play here it maybe sounds like an excuse, but it is a very, very difficult pitch that we have here. It's not in our favour.

“The ball bounces very awkwardly in front of Andreas when he wants to play this ball. We had the same mistake against Real Madrid that cost us the next round of the Champions League, and this one cost us the next match. I can't remember when we got two goals like this."

After the sacking, the Mirror reports that Boehly is set to make a big money signing in landing former Arsenal and Real Madrid groundsperson Paul Burgess. Burgess is said to be a leader in the field and should ensure that the pitch reaches the standards that many will be hoping for at Stamford Bridge.
