Chelsea set to face PL opponents Atletico Madrid in Romania or Poland

Chelsea may have to travel to Poland or Romania for the first leg of their Champions League last-16 tie with Atletico Madrid.

LaLiga leaders Atletico are desperate to play the game on home soil, but may be unable to do so due to Spain's tough travel sanctions.

Due to the ongoing pandemic, travel restrictions on those arriving from the UK to the country mean it is not possible for Chelsea to play in the Spanish capital as things stand.

And it appears that those measures will be extended beyond the current window which is up until February 16.

It means that Atletico must now source an alternative venue, and according to the Sun the Arena Nationala in Bucharest, Romania, is one of the top picks.

Meanwhile, Sky Sport Italia journalist Angelo Mangiante has suggested the tie could take place in Warsaw, Poland, at the PGE Narodowy.
