The first legs of the League Cup last four kick-off on Tuesday night when Maurizio Sarri's side travel to Wembley to face Spurs.

League One side Burton travel to the Etihad on Wednesday evening following victories over Shrewsbury, Aston Villa, Burnley, Nottingham Forest and Middlesbrough in the previous rounds.

The EFL announced the second-leg dates ahead of the first-leg ties after having to fit the matches in with the Premier League schedule.

City and Tottenham both play televised league matches on Sunday, January 20 and so could not play their League Cup clashes on Tuesday, January 22.

While Pep Guardiola's side also face Newcastle in the top flight on Tuesday, January 29, which will also be televised.

John Terry and Diego Costa scored in the 2-0 victory over Tottenham, who are still awaiting a first trophy under Mauricio Pochettino.

Spurs had to overcome Watford 4-2 on penalties after a 2-2 draw in the first round, before beating West Ham 3-1 and Arsenal 2-0 to advance to the semi-finals.

City, the 2018 cup winners, saw off Oxford United, Fulham and Leicester - on penalties - to set up their last-four tie.

The use of video assistant referees (VAR) is set to continue in the competition with the final taking place on Sunday, February 24.
