After making his return to action with Rio Ave, Fabio Coentrao hinted at the reasons behind his Real Madrid departure, though was unwilling to go into detail.
The 31-year-old spent seven years in Madrid and intimated all is now what it seems in his team's 3-0 defeat to Sporting CP on Sunday.
"A lot of things happened, and if I could explain what occurred on August 31 you would realise what happened," Coentrao said.
"I would like to speak about it, but unfortunately, I can't."
Rio Ave are currently ninth in the Primeira Liga, with neither chances of European qualification nor a relegation threat.
"I've had a wonderful career, winning many titles and playing for the best clubs in the world and now, fortunately I've come home," Coentrao explained.
"I never look back, to where I could still possibly be.
"For now, I'm here and I only want to help Rio Ave in the Primeira Liga."
