Liverpool's Community Shield meeting with Manchester City will be played at Wembley on Sunday, August 4 at 3pm BST (16:00 CET).
The Community Shield traditionally pits the Premier League winners against the FA Cup winners.
However, with the Reds missing out on booking their place as league champions, City's victory in both competitions sees Jurgen Klopp 's side instead provide the opposition as league runners-up and gives them the opportunity to gain an early upper-hand against their title-rivals.
Liverpool have lifted the trophy on 15 previous occasions, five shared, with their most recent victory coming in 2006 as goals from John Arne Riise and Peter Crouch clinched a 2-1 victory over Chelsea.
Meanwhile, City are the reigning holders after beating Chelsea 2-0 in last year's final.

Completely depends on how much Liverpool fans are there compared to City fans on match day. The 12th man would probably be a key factor

This curtain raiser brings little value, but any card given on this match will be accumulated. FA should accumulate the demerit point with the league cup and fa cup. Otherwise the rest of the EPL team gets advantage over red card and injuries incidents. Very good examples was Real Madrid almost and finally Lost La Liga when CR7 got his sent off during his last campaign in Spain.
