Comparing Haaland & Mbappe’s career records so far: Trophies, Goals, Assists…

As Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo wind down their careers, two new football superstars have emerged into the vacuum: Erling Braut Haaland and Kylian Mbappe.

Haaland and Mbappe finished first and third in the 2022-23 European Golden Shoe race, scoring 36 and 29 league goals respectively, and it would be no surprise to see the two forwards dominate Europe's goalscoring charts for the next decade or more.

“There are so many good players and Kylian is one of them,” Haaland told Canal+ earlier this season.

“He is so strong. The French are so lucky that he plays for France. I would like him to play for Norway obviously, but it's not the case. But yes, he's an incredible player.”

“He's so fast, so strong and he's been doing it for so many years,” the Norwegian added.

“What is he? Two years older than me? It's crazy. Sometimes you have to tell yourself that he still has ten years of playing at the top level. He is phenomenal.”

Given his prowess, it's easy to forget that Mbappe is still only 24, while it's frankly ridiculous that Haaland is still 22.

It will be fascinating to see how their careers develop, and whether they build up the same sort of individual rivalry that has long existed between Ronaldo and Messi (and their legions of Twitter fans).
