Coronavirus death toll in Italy at 5476, increase of 651 over 24 hours

The death toll in Italy for people who contracted Coronavirus is now 5,476, an increase of 651 over 24 hours, with another 3,957 testing positive since yesterday.

Every day at 18.00 local time, the authorities give an update on the figures from the last 24 hours in the Peninsula.

On March 22, there are a total of 5,476 people who have died after contracting COVID-19, an increase of 651 since March 21.

Another 3,957 tested positive since yesterday, while 952 have made a full recovery in the same period for a total 7,024 who have surpassed the illness.

There are currently 46,638 positive tests, 23,783 in self-isolation at home, 3,000 in intensive care.

It is at least a small drop from yesterday’s record surge of 793 deaths in 24 hours, but the last three days have been horrific for the nation.

Over the last 72 hours, there have been another 2,071 deaths.
