Cristiano Ronaldo wonders whether he and his son will still train in 12th birthday message

Cristiano Ronaldo has sent a heartwarming birthday message to his son, Cristiano Jr, and queried whether the two of them would still train together now he is growing up.

The Manchester United superstar took to social media to share a cheeky snap of the pair of them on board a plane, Cristiano senior asleep while his son posed for the camera.

Alongside he posted a few words to his now 12-year-old protegee, saying:' Happy birthday my son!

'How does time go by…?! Will we still play together?!' The words were followed by a questioning emoji and a laughing emoji.

'The most important thing is to continue being the boy you are with a huge heart! Best of luck, puppy! Daddy loves you very much.'

Ronaldo Jr is currently in the Red Devils' academy and appears to be making the most of learning from his father, one of the greatest footballers of all time.

In April, he scored for United in a youth tournament in Spain and celebrated with his father's trademark 'Siuuu' celebration.

Video also emerged of Cristiano Jr following in his dad's footsteps with several stepovers before smashing the ball home in a training session.

In February Ronaldo senior posted an image of him playing football with his son and calling him 'the present and future'.

But despite all signs pointing to a potential football career, Ronaldo said he would never pressure his son into taking up the beautiful game.

Speaking in girlfriend Georgina Rodriguez's Netflix series 'I Am Georgina', Ronaldo said of his son's football ambitions: 'Only time will tell. I will never pressure him. He will do what he wants.

'Also what I want the most for Cristianito and everyone else is that they're happy and that they choose what they want. I will support in any way.'
