Crotch of Ronaldo statue continues to wear away due to tourists rubbing it

The crotch area of the Cristiano Ronaldo statue in Funchal, Portugal is continuing to wear away after being rubbed so much by fans.

The bronze statue was unveiled at the Pestana CR7 in 2019, and rubbing it has become a tradition and a tourist attraction.

The larger-than-life tribute is more than two metres tall and weighs more than 800 kilograms, but the crotch area has proved most popular amongst visitors.

That same crotch area is standing out increasingly as the years have gone on, as the fact that it is has been rubbed so much has left the bronze polished and shiny.

Now, it has become even more of a focal point for photos and selfies, with fans eager to touch it as they pose for photos on their holidays.
