Peter, this is the Wayne Rooney who spent most of his last season at United bench warming, who then went to Everton and had another bad season before going off to the USA to play in second rate league, I am sorry but Rooney is not the player he was in his mid 20's, and no amount of glossing over the facts can change that.

I totally disagree with Crouch on this Rooney has had his day & has nothing new to offer England. It's about time people understand that the team has moved on well without him. I'm sure Southgate wouldn't go backwards by recalling Rooney.
