Crystal Palace will revive interest in Michy Batshuayi after a deal to sign Dominic Solanke on loan hit a snag.
Liverpool striker Solanke is recovering from a slight hamstring injury and is besieged with offers including permanent transfers and interest from Palace's fierce rivals Brighton.
He expects to leave Anfield this month and wants time to consider his options and avoid being rushed into a move.
Dan Ashworth who is joining Brighton from the FA as technical director and has seen Solanke's progress through the England youth ranks at close quarters.
There is also interest from Bundesliga teams including Schalke.
Roy Hodgson is keen to boost his goal threat and Palace are exploring alternatives.
They were among several clubs who were interested in taking Tammy Abraham on loan from Chelsea.
Abraham is set to trigger a clause to end his prolific loan spell at Aston Villa amid interest from the Premier League.
Palace, Burnley and Huddersfield were among those in pursuit but he wants a move to Wolverhampton Wanderers.
Batshuayi, another Chelsea striker, has been on loan at Valencia this season but it has not been a successful move.
The 25-year-old Belgian has scored only three goals in Spain - only one in La Liga - and has lost his place in the team.
Palace have had him in their sights since 2016 when they agreed a fee with Marseille before he joined Chelsea.

I saw Liverpool fans saying Solanke was better than Batshuayi.

Would still love to get Batshuayi in to be fair. But this is the Daily Mail as a source after all so pinch of salt.

Solanke should go to the Bundesliga or drop down to championship. I think only Wolves don't have strikers in excess in the prem.

Weird use of the word besieged, but the idea that multiple Premier League clubs trying to sign Solanke is mind-boggling. He's done nothing to show he's ready for the Premier League.

Well he's 25 already, dunno how much longer you can develop him if he is nearly reaching prime years for footballing at his position.

Feel like the guy needs a permanent move to a club that are happy to take that extra risk to develop him.
