Crystal Palace have reportedly been told they will have to pay West Bromwich Albion just £900,000 for Nathan Ferguson following a tribunal that took place this week.

West Brom will be disappointed with the result of the tribunal considering they had initially agreed deal worth £8million in January 2020 for the defender.

However, a knee-related issue was picked up in his medical and the two clubs were forced back to the table to discuss how to proceed with the deal.

Palace wanted to renegotiate the terms of the deal to compensate for the risk associated with signing an injured player.

However, according the The Athletic, West Brom were unwilling to budge of the £8m figure that was first agreed.

Therefore, the Professional Football Compensation Committee were tasked with the job of determining a suitable fee for the midfielder.

The committee - who came together 13 months after Ferguson's move - decided that Crystal Palace would only have to pay £900,000 for the youngster.

Additionally, West Brom have no right appeal the decision and will have to accept the lower price.

Ferguson has not played a game for Palace since his arrival in July 2020 - having arrived with a knee injury and torn his Achilles in May.

Nevertheless, it is understood that Palace will stand by the young defender as they still believe he will have a bright future in the game.
