Manchester City Women's captain Steph Houghton has compared Kevin De Bruyne to Steven Gerrard.
Houghton was part of the Sky Sports pundit team for City's clash in the Premier League against Aston Villa on Sunday afternoon.
And Pep Guardiola's side continued their impressive form with a dominant first half display at Villa Park.
A double from Riyad Mahrez handed the Blues a 2-0 lead after just 24 minutes before Sergio Aguero added a third four minutes later.
De Bruyne's cross was then turned at the back post by Gabriel Jesus on the stroke of half-time for number four.
And Houghton believes the way Belgium runs with the ball at his feet is similar to the way the former Liverpool captain did.
“I think we have seen this time and time again, especially this season,” the England' skipper said.
“His pace and power to get the ball out of his feet just reminds me of Steven Gerrard, the way he runs with the ball.”

Comparing KDB to useless Gerrard is insult to KING KEVING DE BRUYNE. what is gerrard did all his career its just shooting and crossing. but KDB is complete player. he can do what ever he wants. even once Alex Ferguson says in his book that Gerrard is not legend.

no disrespect to Gerrard. de bruyne is fantastic. but Gerrard was not a de bruyne player. Is not competition between Liverpool an city all time. is facing facts. Gerrard is good. de bruyne is good also.,.. but he needs àlot to reach Gerrard standards.

A lot of people do not have an insight in football, u just concerned about comparism and even the topic is wrong cos according to what i see here, she was highlighting similarities between their run and their power they have with ball on their feets. Steven Gerrard had 120 premier league goals and 92 assists to his name and that is not easy feet coming from the midfield and therefore should be respected. Today fans just talk abt present players cause they are the ones you watch the most. By the way, most City fans just started supporting them just this last decade after AbuDhabi but u see them coming out to say Trash, some are just Pep Guardiola fans and really don’t deserve attention.
