Kevin De Bruyne says he was not invited to watch Chelsea's Champions League triumph in 2012 despite signing for the club just four months before.
The Manchester City playmaker says he recalls little information from the game which saw Chelsea stun Bayern Munich in a dramatic penalty shoot-out at the Allianz Arena to win the Champions League for the first time.
De Bruyne even admitted to having no recollection of Didier Drogba's decisive penalty or his celebration - which saw him run the length of the pitch swirling his shirt above his head in delight.
Chelsea completed the £6.7million signing of De Bruyne from Genk on a five-and-a-half-year deal in 2012, but forgot to invite him to the Champions League final.
Speaking about Chelsea's triumph, De Bruyne says he can't even remember watching his new club's success on TV.
Speaking to The Sun, the Manchester City star said: 'I wasn't there. I don't think I was invited. I don't remember much about it to be honest.
'With Champions League finals, sometimes I watch them – sometimes not. It just depends on the situation. I don't recall too much about that one.'
Chelsea will be eager to repeat history on Saturday night by picking up another Champions League title.
However, De Bruyne says he is confident in Manchester City's ability to overcome the Blues and claim the trophy.
He also reflected on City's track record in the Champions League before saying this year has been 'different'.
The 29-year-old said: 'I had the feeling from the beginning here. People talk about failure when you don't win the Champions League but it's so difficult to win it.
'We've been fighting for it for the last six years – we've always been around the quarter finals, semi-finals. Always been around the best eight teams in Europe.
'But when you play knock-out, small situations can make a difference.
'In the bad situations, we maybe made too many mistakes and this year we didn't. We've been very compact when it became difficult. We've done it in the right way this year.'

Coach to coach , players to players, the chance of Chelsea is very slim and don't forget the Guardiola impact in every final. I saw the citizens celebrating after 90 mini's.

Is it by force to remember something? He was not called to witness the final. And he says he doesn't remember what happened. What's the disrespect for Chelsea in what he said?

well, I didn't play for Chelsea or Bayern in that final. but I pretty well remember Drogba's header towards the 90th minute to make it 1-1 and take it to extra time after Bayern bullied Chelsea for 80% of that match. I also remember very well Drogba running full length of the pitch after the decisive penalty. And I am just a football fan. So are you saying because De Bruyne as a football player didn't choose to watch a CL final which the club just signed him hadn't won in its history?? that's a load of bs, that's what it is.
I mean the club didn’t even invite one of their players to watch it so Chelsea also disrespected him💁🏻♂️
