Totti and De Rossi were Leonidas and his Captain. Totti was not a real leader but a king, whereas De Rossi was the actual leader of the players on the pitch, the motivator, the guy who'd make up for others' mistakes and flaws. I don't think any club has ever managed to waste this effectively two players of such magnitude. Even though he rarely played this season, De Rossi looked like the only player who knew what to do with the ball - on either team. The only player whose movement made sense, whose passes were smooth and accurate, the only player who looked like a real world class footballer.

Another player who could’ve been in a top 5 European team, but his heart was with Roma. Nothing but respect and love for him, especially because of what he did with the national team. It’s going to be sad seeing him leave, even as someone who isn’t a Roma fan. LEGEND Edit: coming back to say that I hope it doesn’t sound like I’m bashing Roma. Rivalries aside, he still took part of an amazing team

we had many legends, From Volk and Amadei to Giannini passing through Losi, Conti, Pruzzo, Di Bartolomei, Falcao, Ancelotti and Rudi Voeller. Probably Totti was the best and the most beloved, but the most important is Falcao for sure. I love De Rossi and I think that from 2006 to 2008 he was the best midfilder I ever seen, but it's impossible to rate him before one of the names above.

I’ve been lucky enough to watch & observe at close range Gerrard at LFC & Totti & De Rossi at Roma - local players who grew up to captain the clubs they supported. The term Legend is overused, but it applies here. De Rossi’s final game will be emotional

Our team is lacking leaders. Apart from De Rossi, there is Manolas and maybe Dzeko? No wonder our team lacked balls this season. What is worse is that when he played he was our best midfielder, if not our best player. Replacing him is going to be hard. At least I would have waited until the new manager is chosen to decide if he wants De Rossi or not. The kicker is that he is not even retiring. He'll probably go to the US or to Boca Juniors.

My favorite player moving on, I hoped he had one or two more seasons in him. I can see why though, the amount of injuries he had this season played a big factor. This will take time to process, I’m just devastated by the news. Grazie, Daniele. We’ll miss you, Capitano
