AC Milan goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma has admitted that the mistakes he has made have helped him grow as a player.
Donnarumma spoke at Rossoneri's annual youth sector party, which was held in the executive hall of San Siro on Wednesday night.
Players from both the male and female junior teams were present as well as some of the senior management – like Paolo Maldini – attended, as well as some of the senior squad like Alessio Romagnoli and Davide Calabria.
Donnarumma is a fantastic example of somebody who has worked incredibly hard to come through the Primavera set up, firstly to make his debut aged 16 four years ago to now being considered as the best goalkeeper in Italy by some.
Speaking about his own experiences, he insisted that the key is always to remain grounded.
“My parents taught me to always be humble. The most important thing is to have fun playing soccer,” he said (via Calciomercato.com).
On making mistakes, he added: “It happens, but when it happens you have to be good to leave it there and continue the game. You have to have the head to react.
“Last year against Sampdoria I made a mistake after 20 seconds. Life happens and you think about it, the mistakes you make help you learn.”
Meanwhile, journalist Carlo Pellegatti claimed on his YouTube channel earlier on Wednesday that Donnarumma has rejected a 'serious offer' from Real Madrid as he wishes to stay and renew his deal with Milan.
