Eddie Newton has revealed his heart is set on a return to west London in the future after the former Chelsea player and coach bagged his first silverware as a manager.

The Englishman quit his role in Frank Lampard's Blues backroom staff in January to join Turkish side Trabzonspor as assistant toΒ Huseyin Cimsir.

Newton then took charge as caretaker when Cimsir was sacked before the club's final two games of 2019-20, winning 2-1 against Kayserispor to secure second-place in the Super Lig before defeating Alanyaspor 2-0 in the Turkish Cup Final.

Newton was by Roberto Di Matteo's side in Munich when Chelsea stunned Bayern to clinch their first Champions League title in 2012, reinforcing his unbreakable bond with the Blues after graduating from their youth academy in 1990.

'Everyone knows where my heart is, I love Chelsea and I'm not going to deny that,' the 48-year-old told the Sun.

'It would be foolhardy to say I'm not. I wouldn't close myself off. If they came then great but we'll see. I am open to all offers.

'Why wouldn't you want to work in the Premier League? You want to work against the best.

'I wanted to play against the best when I was a player and it's the same as a manager.

'It's arguably the best league in the world and some of the best coaches in the world are operating in the Premier League.'
