Eight things you may not know about Malcom

Barcelona have a new star in their ranks, following Malcom's arrival from Bordeaux.

One of a kind

He stood out at the age of 10 in his futsal team, Esperia, and he then trialled alongside 400 others for Corinthians and was the only one accepted into the club's Under-11s team.

The story behind his name

His father chose his name in tribute to Malcolm X, one of the most prominent civil rights leaders for African-Americans in the US during the 1960s.

A tough childhood

He grew up in a favela in Vila Formosa, one of Sao Paulo's poorest areas.

Help from his grandmother

To help fund his bus tickets to train with Corinthians, his grandmother sold various dishes and passed the money on to the young footballer
