Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag may be relieved to return to Premier League on Saturday night when his side travel to play rock-bottom Sheffield United.
Following the dramatic late win over Brentford, the Dutch boss will be desperate for his team to maintain some momentum following their worst start to a top-flight season for 43 years. But the international break has not been without its background noise, with Sir Jim Ratcliffe's pursuit of a £1.4billion deal to purchase 25 percent of the club dominating the headlines.
Ten Hag has also had to deal with a host of his stars being away on international duty. And it's impacted his selection for the Bramall Lane, with Casemiro ruled out after picking up a knock playing for Brazil.
Here's a round-up of the latest news from Old Trafford in the last 24 hours.
Ten Hag makes brutal Martial call
Manchester United will let go of Anthony Martial next summer as Erik ten Hag wants to shake up his striking options.
Martial’s fitness issues limited him to just 11 starts in 38 Premier League matches last season – illustrating his lack of reliability when it comes to availability. While the fitness concerns are beyond the Frenchman’s control, Ten Hag has reportedly lost faith in him.
The 27-year-old is out of contract next summer although United do hold an option to extend his stay at Old Trafford by a further year. Regardless, the forward will almost certainly change clubs in the summer of 2024.
UEFA take action against Galatasaray
UEFA have handed Galatasaray a £45,00 fine and given their fans a suspended ban after the scenes that marred their Champions League win at Old Trafford.
On Friday, the authority confirmed the Turkish club had been found guilty of four separate charges. And as well as the cumulative total of fines, their supporters have been handed a one-game ban, suspended for two years, from away fixtures in Europe.
They were fined £26,000 for the throwing of objects, as well as the ban. The Super Lig champions were also dealt a £3,000 fine for the lighting of fireworks and £8,700 for general crowd disturbances - plus £7,000 for acts of damage in the away end.
Varane shares feelings on Casemiro
Raphael Varane has lauded Casemiro in the wake of the Manchester United midfielder's difficult start to the season.
After the Brazilian midfielder was criticised by former United player Paul Parker, Varane told Manutd.com: “He brings a lot of balance on the team, I think he can cut out a lot of counter-attacks we could concede.
"It’s just amazing and with him, I have a great connection on the pitch, even without talking, we know exactly where we’re going to move for each other. It’s very helpful for the team to have a player like him.”

He's lost 4 games mate 😂, going on as if he's gonna get sacked especially after achieving his goal champions league football. The current team we have isn't good enough to win prem, no manager out there would win the league with the current united team.
