Christian Eriksen’s agent says the Spurs playmaker did not push for a transfer 12 months ago despite three big-money offers - but the situation has changed.
Eriksen, currently on international duty with Denmark, said on Wednesday morning that he wants to “try something new”.
But Levy made clear that handing Eriksen a new contract was a priority, and that Spurs do not want to sell.
Eriksen’s declaration however shows that he has his heart set on a switch to Spain.
He told Ekstra Bladet: "I feel that I am a place in my career where I might want to try something new.
"I have the wildest and deepest respect for everything that has happened in Tottenham, nor will it be negative. But I have also said that I would like to try something new."
And his agent, Martin Schoots, has told Standard Sport that he hopes a compromise can be reached, after Eriksen didn’t rock the boat last year when three clubs - one of whom is believed to have been Manchester United - came calling.
“Last season there were three clubs, two English and one foreign, interested in paying a huge amount to Spurs.
“For the club it was then a no-go area and for Christian not a must-have. I have the impression we are in a new situation now.”
Perez remains hopeful of cutting a deal to land Eriksen, as he and coach Zinedine Zidane plot a Madrid overhaul.
Eriksen is Perez's No.1 target to strengthen midfield, despite Zidane preferring United's Paul Pogba.
Madrid chiefs believe that Levy’s stance is a way of driving up the price - with Madrid said to be unwilling to go above £80million - because he knows he’s fighting a losing battle.
Mirror Football understands Mauricio Pochettino has lined up Giovani Lo Celso as a replacement, while Spurs are also monitoring Leicester ’s James Maddison.

As a Tottenham fan, I won't blame you, I will support your decision. But I hope you can stay in Tottenham and become the legend of Tottenham.

he is incredibly vital in the way that we play: his passing, work rate and knack for getting into goal scoring positions are very unique attributes he brings and hard to replace,Yeah it’s much harder to find a player who brings all the things Dele does, than to find a brilliant passer and playmaker like Eriksen is.

Looking like mbappe, Erikson, Hazard, pogba mentality are thinking that good to real Madrid is an extra tyres opportunities to the moon. You either take it and be important now or you stay at home because workers are on strike.

I hope they sign hazard and erikson both. and then strengthen the weak defensive midfield position instead of buying mbape. Coz we already have the young future star at club who need some space and a feasible healthy chance to get in starting line up. Vinicius , Brahim , Regulin and rodryo all of them are one of the best at their position and will be a crime to destroy thier future. Dont buy future star if u planning to buy Currently starting young player. Hala madrid

Eriksen, why do you want to leave Spurs? To try something new? I guess that’s a good enough reason to leave and I know what a honour and a privilege it is to play for Real Madrid. I don’t blame you one bit all I can say is if that’s what’ll you really want then thank you and all the best of luck!

Real Madrid next season..I don't think United would allow Pogba to leave on a cheap they may consider selling around £150m but I think Eriksen would be a better option..Pogba's ability can't be questioned but it is his attitude that does plus Eriksen has opened the door for his Tottenham exit and it is highly likely that he'll leave this season or else he'd leave for free anyway..

Eriksen is a really good playmaker and still has a lot more potential for greatness. Although Tottenham made it to the UCL he didn’t do well and maybe that’s why he wants a move to Real for a good challenge as it is promised by Zidane for La Liga and UCL not a very big problem.
