Erling Haaland: When Lucas Hernandez instantly regretted squaring up to striker

For a player who has only just turned 22 years of age, Erling Haaland's career goal tally is simply remarkable.

In just 200 competitive appearances, the Norwegian frontman has found the net an astounding 155 times. Haaland's numbers become even more impressive when we look at his ratio over the past three seasons with his now-former club Borussia Dortmund.

A return of 86 goals in 89 games in all competitions in that period prompted Manchester City to go all out to bring Haaland to the Premier League.

Per Sky Sports, a £51 million transfer fee was supplemented by additional payments of some £34.5m to get the deal over the line – as City beat off competition from around Europe to secure Haaland's signature.

One of the attributes that makes Haaland such an intimidating prospect to defend against is his six-foot-five-inch frame.

Combined with his pace, movement and ability to finish with both feet as well as his head, Haaland is pretty much everything a manager could want in a striker.

While many defenders rely on being able to bully opposing frontmen off the ball, that's simply not going to happen where the Leeds-born star is concerned.

Any Premier League centre-backs who fancy their chances of getting the better of Haaland in a confrontation in the months ahead might want to remind themselves of the speed with which Bayern Munich's Lucas Hernandez backed down from a face-off with Haaland in the Bundesliga last season.

French World Cup winner Hernandez has plenty of experience at the top level and rarely shirks a battle.
