Experienced Newport striker Padraig Amond relaxed ahead of Leicester

'There probably aren't many League Two players who have played against some of the guys I have,' said Padraig Amond as he relaxed in a hospitality box at Newport's Rodney Parade home this week.

There was no sign of nerves from the 30-year-old striker ahead of Sunday afternoon's third-round FA Cup tie with Leicester City, but when you can count the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo, Radamel Falcao and James Rodriguez as previous opponents, why should a few Foxes worry you?

Amond loves a big occasion. The Irishman faced Ronaldo and Real Madrid when with Shamrock Rovers in 2009 and, during a stint at Pacos de Ferreira in Portugal, went head-to-head with Porto's formidable trio of Falcao, James and Hulk.

Last season his goal nearly helped County to a famous FA Cup win over Tottenham, but was enough to earn them a draw and a lucrative replay at Wembley.

'There was a big hullabaloo when I played against Real. It was Ronaldo's debut,' said Amond, whose career has taken him to nine clubs and four different countries. 'The experiences I've had in big games still help me and they will do so again this weekend.'

A sold-out Welsh crowd will back County on Sunday. 'We're the only ones who think we can get a result, but I hope Leicester come and play a full-strength side,' said Amond.
