Fans full of praise for Roma youth team as they console rivals Milan

Roma's under-15s have been praised by football fans for consoling their rivals AC Milan after winning the league title.

Roma's youngsters became champions of Italy on Thursday night at Stadio Bruno Benelli in Ravenna, but decided to speak to their deeply disappointed opponents instead of celebrating.

The academy players can be seen hugging each other and shaking hands before leaving the field.

One fan said: 'This is really encouraging', while another tweeted: 'This is absolutely phenomenal'.

One person tweeted: 'This is what it's all about', clearly inspired by the act of sportsmanship.

Second-half goals from Koffi and Cherubini clinched the Scudetto for Roma, leaving their opponents distraught at full-time.

'It's a shame, but Coach Polistina's side can hold their heads high and deserve plaudits for the great season they've had: they finished first in the league and managed to reach the final,' Milan wrote on their website.

'It's now time to build from this defeat and the development the lads have shown: they've become a team and have remained so right until the very end.

'It was a disappointing evening, but the future is still full of hope for the Rossoneri.'
