The father of Liverpool goalkeeper Alisson Becker has drowned in a lake near his holiday home in southern Brazil.
Jose Becker, 57, had been swimming at a dam on his property when the accident happened on Wednesday.
Police spokesman Doroteo Machado Filho said foul play was not suspected.
Alisson joined Liverpool in 2018 from Roma and was voted FIFA men's goalkeeper of the year in 2019. His younger brother Muriel is a goalkeeper for Brazilian side Fluminense.
Internacional, who both brothers played for, tweeted their condolences.
"It is with great sadness that we received the news of Jose Agostinho Becker's death, the father of our ex-goalkeepers Alisson and Muriel," the club said.

I want to say rip like others but it won't be enough not nearly enough..not in my wildest dreams would I be able to imagine the pain to not only lose your father ..but that too over something that could have been prevented easily . first Klopp and then Allison ...things are just too bad for Liverpool off the pitch and it certainly will affect their on the pitch actions. if they are having a bad season they should be not trolled at the very least ..I can't even imagine to find the courage and willpower to go back and play on the pitch yet klopp and Allison do it . no words but a massive respect for them from me forever ..tough times don't last forever but they teach you biggest lessons of life . I'm sure Klopp and Allison along with Liverpool will be back stronger than ever ..not just as players but as human beings .
