Felix spotted training Atletico ACADEMY Simeone excludes him with PSG interested

Joao Felix trained with the youth team for some of Atletico Madrid's first day at their pre-season training camp, footage has revealed.

The forward, who has been linked with a move to PSG, was consigned to an academy rondo alongside Renan Lodi while manager Diego Simeone led a tactical drill with other senior players.

He did, however, spend other parts of the day with the first team under the watchful eye of El Cholo, according to Mundo Deportivo.

Felix has reportedly set his eyes on PSG and his No 7 shirt has been given to Antoine Griezmann after his return from a loan spell at Chelsea.

The French giants appear to reciprocate his feelings, with new manager Luis Enrique keen to prise the 23-year-old away from Civitas Metropolitano.

In the first half of video obtained by Mundo Deportivo, Felix can be seen on the far side taking part in the rondo with younger players.

Atletico are seeking a fee in the region of £87million for the restless star, but even that would be a huge loss on the £114m they paid Benfica for him in 2019.

His loan at Chelsea was deemed unimpressive after four goals in 20 outings and back in May, Mauricio Pochettino told the club hierarchy not to make his loan move permanent.

It was a ruthless decision to reject a youngster still widely acknowledged as greatly talented, but questions have to be asked if both Atletico Madrid and Chelsea deem him surplus to requirements.

Mundo Deportivo reported that in Simeone's tactical session, from which Felix and Renan Lodi were excluded, 'there were colleagues with much less hierarchy and weight in the team [than Felix] who could have waited alongside the homegrown players [as Felix did].'

Elsewhere, the respected Spanish sports publication claimed that 'his gestures were that of someone who was in skin but not in soul', suggesting that Felix's mind was elsewhere while undergoing the rigours of pre-season.

Atletico are at a camp in San Rafael, Segovia, for one week, half the time they would usually spend there due to their upcoming tours of South Korea and North America.
