Football Classic: Van Persie scoring diving header vs Spain in World Cup

On June 13, 2014, the Flying Dutchman Robin van Persie stunned the world with an extraordinary diving header in the Netherlands' 5-1 win over Spain.

In a repeat of the 2010 World Cup final, Spain started the game well when Xabi Alonso netted from the penalty spot, but RVP's equaliser left the world in shock.

Louis van Gaal's men went on to win the game 5-1 thanks to goals from Van Persie, Robben and defender Stefan de Vrij, but the headlines belonged to the-then Manchester United striker.

Robin van Persie scored his 44th goal for his national team and became the only player to score at the World Cup with his right foot, left foot and head, as well as scoring a direct free-kick and penalty since 1966.

To put this game into perspective, it was the first time Spain had conceded 5+ goals in an international since losing 6-2 to Scotland in June 1963. Four goals is still the biggest losing margin by

a defending champion in the World Cup.
