Frenkie de Jong is said to be close to signing for Manchester United as the Barcelona star has reportedly 'given the green light' to a deal with the Premier League giants.
United have been long-term admirers of the Holland international and identified him as a primary target for the summer transfer window - which opened on June 10.
De Jong was reportedly waiting to see the offers tabled by Bayern Munich, Paris Saint-Germain and Manchester City before progressing any further with United.
However, Barcelona's price tag of 'at least €80m (£68m)' deterred the European giants from entering the transfer race, according to Sport.
De Jong - who joined Barcelona from Ajax in 2019 - had been heavily linked with a move to Old Trafford following the news of Ten Hag's appointment.
Barcelona made it clear they were open to selling De Jong for the right price this summer but the 25-year-old showed little interest in moving to the Premier League.
However, according to the Spanish news outlet, De Jong has made a U-turn and told his agent to press ahead with negotiations with United.
This is said to be because of the financial situation at Barcelona - who are still deep in debt after years of financial mismanagement.
United are said to be eager to sign De Jong as they are looking to fill the void left by outgoing Paul Pogba and Nemanja Matic.
However, they have their doubts over the price tag Barcelona have attached to the 25-year-old midfielder.
Sportsmail previously revealed that United were trying to acquire his services for around £45m plus add ons.
The Red Devils have not yet presented a 'definitive offer' but Barcelona are reluctant to budge on their asking price and will only see the Dutchman for the 'right price'.
Both parties will continue to negotiate over a potential agreement - but the Catalan giants have warned that a deal must be closed before June 30.
