Messi should have used the occasion last night to do the right thing- give the damn award to the the rightful winner Virgil van Dijk and shame FIFA. Lionel Messi- a fantastic player and even though he scored many goals, 2019 was not one of his best years. Messi’s Barcelona was ousted from the UCL at the hands of VvD’s Liverpool. Messi also had a poor showing at the Copa America. If you must know, Messi only won the La Liga and went on to lose the Kings Cup to Valencia!! How can the least achieving player become the BEST? How is it that they all play in Europe and VvD is the “Best Player in Europe” but Messi is the “BEST” Player in the world? Is the coveted award not meant for the player who was the most outstanding over the period? Well, it seems the Dutch players are being butchered for the pin-sized magician 🤷🏾♂️🤔 Virgil van Dijk should ask Wesley Sneijder who had a clean sweep of trophies and accolades but ultimately lost to Messi in 2010. you are completely right , this prize was a shame. they didn't even want CR7 be above any player that's why they gave the prize shamefully to Modric and puskas to Salah when the both prize should've been given to CR7

He was so good as a young player. The dribbling; the goalscoring; the passing. It was all in his Arsenal at a young age. He was born w/ this stuff. Not many can maintain it for 10+ consecutive years.
