Italy and Genoa goalkeeper Federico Marchetti had his beloved £300,000 Ferrari destroyed by a car wash worker.
The Serie A stopper was supposed to have the Ferrari 812 Superfast delivered to Genoa's team training base after taking it to be washed.
But en route, the worker hit five parked cars and crumpled the front of the vehicle into a barrier.
Fortunately the driver was not harmed in the accident, which occurred on Monday.
A video of the aftermath shows emergency services at the scene clearing up the debris and preparing the car to be transported away.
And another clip shows close up damage, with the front of the car completely obliterated.
The 812 is one of the most powerful cars in the world and can reach a top speed of 211mph.
Marchetti, who has 11 international caps and featured for Italy at the 2010 World Cup, managed to conceal any fury he had about the accident in an Instagram message.
He wrote: 'I am very sorry about what happened.
'Thank God no-one was hurt, and that is the most important thing.
'I've read a lot of bad stuff written. Let's leave it alone - I hope I won't have to read it any more.'
Marchetti made his name at Lazio where he made 161 appearances before moving on to Genoa two years ago.
The Ligurian side narrowly avoided relegation last season and find themselves just two points above the drop zone as things stand this term.
